“Connections: The Six Aboriginal Seasons”

By artist Jamie Eastwood, acrylic painting on canvas 2022 Collaboration with staff and clients of Westmead Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Specialist Services

These works are for the isolation bedrooms in the CFSS unit Westmead Hospital

This series of paintings created by local Aboriginal artist Jamie Eastwood represent the six local Aboriginal seasons, bringing a fine connection to nature, the times of the year, and Aboriginal knowledge to Level 5 Cystic Fibrosis and Respiratory IPUs’ isolation rooms.
Jamie Eastwood is a well-known artist (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1bM4nvVqsA ), and for this project he collaborated with the staff and clients of Westmead Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Specialist Services. The six original paintings are 60cm wide x 90 cm height and were enlarged to 1.5- 1.7m wide by 2.55m height, printed in vinyl and located in 12 isolation rooms.
The original works make a beautiful collection of framed 63cm wide x 93cm height. The works were framed using plexiglass for safety and infection control prevention. Frames are cleanable and works are sealed in the frame.
The proposal for the originals, agreed by users, was to install the works in the CFSS, preferably in the Outpatient areas. The collection should be kept together as they give a fantastic insight into the connection to Aboriginal seasons.
